Learn to Skate
Skaters typically begin in a group lesson environment, such as the USFS (United States Figure Skating) Learn-To-Skate program. The Learn to Skate USA program teaches the basics of figure skating and provides a solid base for whatever sort of skating a student chooses in the future. When skaters have learned their basic elements, many join a USFS skating club, such as the Sheboygan Lakers Figure Skating Club, and further develop their skills by working with a private instructor.
SLFSC figure skaters can practice and have private lessons, on Club Ice sessions. The number of hours a skater chooses to practice depends on many factors, including their level of interest, competitiveness, goals, and budget.
Skating goals often include official USFS testing, competitions, synchronized skating, ice shows/exhibitions, and/or recreational skating.
