Synchronized Skating  is a team sport that takes the classical, graceful movements of figure skating, and combines it with the thrill of split second maneuvers. Synchronized Skating involves a team of 8-16 skaters competing at a variety of different levels. Synchronization refers to the unison and accuracy of formations executed by the skaters.  Skaters, in a well-balanced program, will form circles, lines, blocks, wheels and intersections choreographed to allow for expression and interpretation of the music.  Intricate footwork is used to enhance the maneuvers.  Teams are judges on these elements in addition to their speed, program difficulty, style and artistic expression.

Learn to Skate

It's great to skate!

The lessons learned in ice skating are also lessons in life. The confidence and joy you see your kids gain today will become the greatness your kids achieve in the world tomorrow.

The Theater on Ice Skating Team was started as an entertainment group in 2001 by a small group of skaters looking to experience more that individual competition. Theatrical skating focuses on artistry, character portrayal, and telling a story through movement, more than on technical ability.

Skaters normally begin in a group lesson environment, such as the USFS (United States Figure Skating) Learn-To-Skate program. This "Basic Skills" program teaches the basics of figure skating and provides a solid basis for whatever sort of skating a student chooses in the future.

When skaters have learned their basic elements, many join a USFS skating club, such as the Sheboygan Lakers Figure Skating Club, and further develop their skills by working with a private instructor.

SLFSC figure skaters can practice, and have private lessons, on Club Ice sessions, which are offered up to approximately 7 hours per week, on daily Public Ice sessions, or offerings at other area rinks.  (The USFS membership provided by membership in SLFSC allows skaters limited participation in Club Ice sessions at most other USFS Clubs.) The number of hours a skater chooses to practice depends on many factors, including their level of interest, competitiveness, goals, and budget.

Skating goals often include official USFS testing, competitions, ice shows/exhibitions, and/or recreational skating.
